Lessons Learned

When solving the water issue determine if the problem is poor access to water, have to travel far to get the water, or is the problem that the water is polluted or both. If the problem is far distance to the water then there are two choices; move the village to the water or move the water to the village. In most case the village does not want to move so to get the water closer to the village you will need to bore a well or create dams that hold water when it comes.

If the water is polluted then you need to determine where the pollution is coming from. If the pollution is coming from humans, feces, then you either need to provide safe sanitation or dig a well below the pollution. In most cases it is better to solve the sanitation issue since the feces is also spreading pathogens through the air as well as by insects and vermin causing health issues.
